Samuel D. Rocha is the Owen Duston Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Teacher Education at Wabash College. He received his Ph.D. from the Ohio State University in Philosophy of Education where he attended as a Gates Millennium Scholar.
Sam's academic interests are multidisciplinary and broad. They include philosophy of education, curriculum studies, the life and thought of William James, phenomenology, aesthetics, philosophy of race, Latino philosophy, and philosophical theology.
Sam is also head coach of the Wabash Rugby Club, contributor to Vox-Nova, and an accomplished (and sometimes professional) musician.

Sam's paper, "Erotic Study: Fortune, Baby-Talk, and Jazz," was selected as one of three general session papers for the upcoming Philosophy of Education Society meeting in Pittsburgh, PA.
This Spring, Sam will be presenting his work at the American Philosophical Association (Central Division), the American Association for the Advancement of Curriculum Studies, the American Educational Research Association, the Philosophy of Education Society, and the 8th International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry.Sam will also be giving invited talks at Dennison University and Franciscan University of Steubenville.
Sam has co-written a chapbook of poetry with his student and friend, Sam Bennett. It will be available for purchase February 2012.
Sam published his first book,Things and Stuff, this past September. It can be purchased through Createspace, Amazon, and at the Wabash College Bookstore. Sam was awarded the Loadman Dissertation Award for his doctoral work at the Ohio State University.
